Hour 1:"Ditch the Ex-Im Bank" with Christine Harbin Hanson,
Deputy Director of Federal Affairs for Americans for Prosperity

Christine Harbin Hanson, Deputy Director of Federal Affairs for Americans for Prosperity, will be discussing efforts in Congress to revive the corrupt Export-Import Bank. The bank, which provided American taxpayer backed loans and loan guarantees to foreign companies had a history of questionable deals and conduct, and was recently allowed to expire when up for legal reauthorization.

Americans for Prosperity, the nation’s largest free market grassroots organization, has led the charge to end the Export-Import Bank. And now it’s working to stop a new effort to resurrect the bank. Rep. Stephen Fincher is attempting to circumvent the committee process and revive the expired institution using a discharge petition.

Americans for Prosperity: “Members are right to be frustrated with this attempt to sidestep regular order, especially to revive a defunct institution that represents the worst of Beltway crony capitalism. It’s unfortunate that some are determined not to take even a modest step toward restoring free markets or getting out of the business of special interest deals. Signing this discharge petition is an attempt to bring an inherently corrupt institution back from the dead, and it means siding with corporate lobbyists over taxpayers. Abandoning free-market principles is wrong, but trying to do it with a procedural gimmick just adds insult to injury.”

Americans for Prosperity sent a coalition letter to Congress, signed by 40 groups that oppose any effort to reauthorize Ex-Im using a discharge petition. “On top of the policy and ethical concerns with the bank, we are increasingly concerned about the process,” the letter read in part. “Congress should not use an esoteric parliamentary tactic to sidestep the regular legislative process in order to fast-track legislation reauthorizing this scandal-plagued bank.”

The group also reiterated its appreciation for House members who oppose Ex-Im, particularly House Financial Services Committee chairman Jeb Hensarling, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and Freedom Caucus chairman Jim Jordan. AFP applauds their leadership on the issue and their efforts in bringing the bank’s ills to light for colleagues and members of the public.
Here’s a media release on the issue…

"One Family, One Fight"

"From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And gentlemen in England now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day."
William Shakespeare

For too long, Veterans have received substandard medical care, administrative attention and resources because the Department of Veteran Affairs has grown into a culture of favoritism, nepotism and cronyism. Veterans are no longer treated as heroes, but rather as irritants, bothersome and in the way.

Our mission is to bring about systemic changes to the manner in which the VA transacts business with its only customer - the Veteran.

~~~~~Goals and Focus of VeteranWarriors~~~~~
To work with Congressional Leaders, Veterans Affairs administration and the Veterans, to bring about necessary changes to the manner in which the VA handles Veterans affairs.
To realign, reorganize and redistribute current resources and personnel throughout the Veterans Affairs, to create efficiency, productivity, increase quality of care and benefits to Veterans.
To reintroduce the concept that the Veteran is the purpose of the VA to all VA employees,
administration and leadership.
To create and see implemented, a series of changes to the hiring, training and continued employment practices of the Veterans Administration, with regard to Claims and Pension processing, management, and rating decisions.
To create and see implemented a third-party oversight agency which will have the authority to reprimand, penalize and when necessary, terminate Veterans Administration employees for violations of law, policy, instruction or procedure.
The mission of VeteranWarriors is to be the catalyst
which forces the necessary changes to the manner in which the
Department of Veterans Affairs does business with its customers...the United States Veteran.
