Dave is currently the Forest Supervisor on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and has held that position since 2013. Prior to that he was the Forest Supervisor on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge NF in Montana. He began his career 35 years ago on the Caribou National Forest after having graduated in range management from Humboldt State University in 1980. Over his career he worked on 10 national forests in Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana. Dave spent the first half of his career in range management followed by being a district ranger on the Bighorn and Shoshone National Forests. He then went on to be Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache.

Dave and his wife Diana both grew up in California and now have two grown children. Their daughter Holly, is a range management specialist on the Boise National Forest, and their son Bobby, is an marketing director in CouerdeAlene, Idaho.
